Christmas 2008

It was 5:00 am on Christmas morning! I jumped out of bed so excited, but had to force Vince out to get Mya up so she could see what Santa brought her. I then grabbed my camera (I charged the battery all night) I made Vince and Mya wait on the stairs so I could get a shot of them before.Mya had no idea what was going on. But all the same, I believe she was excited just from my own emotions. Anyway, Santa had gotten her a little baby and Mya was real happy about that, she loves that doll. In fact, she takes a bath with it everyday.

We had to help her a lot with unwrapping her presents, I think she loved the wrapping paper more than her presents!  She was so entertained that morning, that we didn't have to keep watching what she did, and we were able to enjoy the presents we got each other.

It was a very good Christmas, I enjoyed every minute of it. Mya didn't really know what was going on, but  she will next year. I can't wait for her to get excited about Santa! 

Christmas Eve 2008

This was our first Christmas as a family! It was so much fun! We started out at my Mom's house for Christmas Eve. Every year my family gets together to read the story from the bible and just have a evening for Christ. This year, we had an angel, Mary, and baby Jesus to play the parts in our story. Hopefully we'll have more sometime soon. (Holly, Lindsay,Brittany) :-)

Mya didn't want to hold still, so Kenney, being as nice as he is, handed her his phone and she was just fine after that, being a perfect Mary for the night. Bailey didn't really know she was playing the most important part of the story, but she did her job very well. As for Olivia, I'd say she makes the cutest angel to take my place! (yes, when I was young, I played the angel)
As you can tell in the picture, Mary wanted to rest her tired feet up on baby Jesus, and that she did! Through out the whole story and baby Jesus didn't mind at all.

Our night then moved over to Vince's Mom's house, where we all unwrapped our presents. Mya was so much fun and just loved to sit in the middle of all the wrapping paper. My cameras battery was starting to die, so I didn't get a lot of pictures, but I got a few!Shelynn made some really good hot chocolate that night and we all loved it! Personally I think we should have the vanilla kind every year instead of the regular!Mya was in shock because of all the presents and wrapping paper! She just couldn't believe her eyes at all her presents she got from grandma and grandpa Shelton, as well as from Aunt Neile and Uncle Chris. She also loved the bows on her head!

Yes, I know, the night was long! We then made it back over to my mom's house to unwrap our presents from them. I only got one picture before my battery died all the way! I was very disappointed because Mya was so cute with all of them!
My mom loved to help Mya with her presents! And my dogs thought they were getting presents too! (they love to steal Mya's toys and chew on them) It was a really fun night and I was glad when it was time to go home, I was very exhausted and just wanted to go to bed. Only to wake up at 5:00 am the next morning!

Although she was too young to run house to house saying "trick or treat!" We did have to dress Mya up and parade her around to our family! Her costume was make by Vince's grandma, and she did a fantastic job! That night it was really warm and her little head was well protected, so we ended up taking the hood off a few times! She was the cutest panda bear I have ever seen!

It was my Grandpa's birthday Sep. 28 when we had Mya blessed. She looked so sweet in all that pretty white. Mya almost didn't fit into her dress we waited so long for her to get blessed! She was three months old, but behaved very well during the blessing! When then went over to my sister in law's house for a little breakfast/luncheon. We tried to get pictures of Mya in her little dress, but she didn't feel like being dressed up that day! It was a very special day for all of us, and I'm glad we had her blessed.What a beautiful, well behaved girl!

A beautiful gift named Mya Lee

It was sometime in October when we found out we were going to be having a baby, and January 19th when we found out it was going to be a little girl. I have to admit that Vince wanted a boy really bad and he was a little disappointed when the doctor said "it's going to be a girl!" but he quickly got over that disappointment when I went into labor and excitement seemed to radiate from him.

It was June 26th 3:00 a.m. when I was woken up with sharp pains in my stomach. I knew exactly what it was, though I don't know how. The pains continued, but I was able to doze off and on till 5:00 a.m. That is when they increased in intensity! I got up when Vince was getting ready for work, and I told him "I think today is the day" He then said to call my mom and have her come over so she could be with me while he was at work, and if we were going to be going to the hospital to call him a.s.a.p. I spent the day sitting on my couch watching TV, while my mother helped me time the contractions whenever they came.

I was soon visited by my mother in law and both of my sister in laws. I was pampered and waited on, it was very nice (all but the contractions). Well the day wore on and Vince returned from work, and the contractions were still coming. It was about 8:30 p.m. when Vince's mother and my mother told us that we should probably go to the hospital. So we got our bags and all four of us went up to the hospital.



I was almost sent home because it sounded like the doctor didn't want to come in and deliver another baby at the moment. But sure enough I made enough progress and I was able to stay. They gave me the epidural and I was finally able to sleep! I slept from about 4:00 a.m. till about 7:45 a.m. when they woke me up and said it was time. I was scared, I wanted to say "Ha! Thank you, but I think I'll wait a little longer"

45 minutes later I held my sweet beautiful baby girl for the first time. I remember looking to make sure she was a girl (because we were joking the day before about what if it was actually a boy and we had all those girl clothes) I don't remember anything else after that. Except hearing the doctor in training say "oops" and "uh-oh" The next thing I remember is waking up in a totally different room with Vince trying to sleep in those very uncomfortable chairs in the hospital. When he noticed that I was awake, the first thing he said to me was "Do you want to hold your baby girl?" I remember thinking that she was the most beautiful girl in the world.


Before we left the hospital, we had to think of a name for our new little one. She didn't look like any of the names I liked, except Miley. But, Vince didn't like that name. The other name was one a friend told us to use. It was Mya. We both looked at her and said Mya, and sure enough it fit perfect. With the first name picked out, all we had left was the middle name (I refuse not to give a middle name because I don't have one and I really wish I did) I got a phone call from my mom saying "I was thinking, you could name her Mya Lee, It's kinda like Miley, but it's not." I really liked that idea. So I offered the name to Vince and he said he was ok with it. And that is how we came to have this beautiful little girl named Mya Lee Martinez.

How we first came to be Vince and Ashley...

I can remember just about everything (I have a good memory when I want to) We were juniors in high school, and we had Economics together. My best friend yelled over to Vince "Hey, Vince! Come sit at our table!"Personally if I had weirdos yelling at me, I would've turned right around and sat as far away as I possibly could! But amazingly he came and sat by us. Everyday we would have to yell for him to come sit by us and everyday he did. I began to develop a little crush on him and I couldn't wait till 3rd hour and was bummed when it was over.

We got into our second semester and it turned out that I had 2 classes with him! I was stoked! Unfortunately my best friend had one of those classes with us too and she can really put the charm on the guys when she wants to! Plus she's really pretty so I was a bit jealous! Haha, yes Vince did have a crush on her and didn't really think twice about me, but it was because we had that second class together that he began to notice that I was pretty darn awesome!

Well summer came and I left, but when I got back, he never called and so I gave up and just started doing my own thing. When we went back to school for our final year in high school, I saw him and my stomach did that little flip and my butterflies were back. So I did what any girl would do and I walked straight up to him and asked "Got any classes with me this year?" and sure enough we had 5th hour pottery together! And we've been together ever since!
